  I haven’t heard about any countrywide tradition of predicting the time when spring should begin. However, there are many proverbs and sayings about how long the winter is supposed to last. Something like: “Rain on St. Catherines day – the winter will for long stay”

We aren’t showing any signs of spring yet in New Mexico either. Looks like we may have a dusting of snow tonight. It probably won’t be anywhere near as fluffy as in your lovely photo.
