Joyce 2012

Good (only for few, not necessarily) news at the start of 2012: copyright on James Joyce’s works  expired on January the 1st, 70 years after writer’s death.

Most of Joyce’s writings can be now freely published, copied, shared, uploaded, downloaded and quoted.

To celebrate this occasion, I’m taking the liberty of quoting this great poem:

Ecce Puer

Of the dark past

A child is born;

With joy and grief

My heart is torn.

Calm in his cradle

The living lies.

May love and mercy

Unclose his eyes!

Young life is breathed

On the glass;

The world that was not

Comes to pass.

A child is sleeping:

An old man gone.

O, father forsaken,

Forgive your son!
