“Lenehan extended his hands in protest.
– But my riddle! he said. What opera is like a railway line?
– Opera? Mr O’Madden Burke’s sphinx face reriddled.
Lenehan announced gladly:
– The Rose of Castille. See the wheeze? Rows of cast steel. Gee!”

As it happens, Ulysses is one of my favourite books. I love this play on words and how you’ve connected it to your photo.

Thanks!
I love wordplays and Joyce was a master of them. Of course to say that is to say nothing about his works. What he’s done should be rather called a languageplay.
That reminds me that I should read more than 100 pages of “Finnegans Wake” at last 🙂
Reading “Ulysses” made me think “rows of cast steel” whenever I see any rails. There was no exception this time.

I have read Ulysses twice, but I have never even attempted Finnegan’s Wake!
